Thomas Cooper's Selection Celebration Ale

Bottle conditioned ale. Thin, light pearly head, ran away fairly quickly. No real nose. As dark as a mid brown can be, but a surprisingly light taste. I expected more to be there, but I'm only getting a mild nuttyness, and that's about it. 150 years and onward, Cooper family. Thanks for the otherwise excellent beer.

Coopers Dr Tims

Can conditioned ale. Very ordinary. Not sure why they bothered.

Kozel Dark, Plzensky Pradzdroj, Plzen, Czech Republic

3.8%
500mL crown seal
Armik Group Pty Ltd, Dandenong, Victoria

Light and easy drinking for a dark - surprisingly light, given the colour and style, mild. If you were going gto go for a session dark, this would be a good choice, but there's not much flavour to back it up.

Young's Double Chocolate Stout, Bedfordshire, England

Young's Double Chocolate Stout
Wells and Young's
Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

It's a bit of a novelty beer, given the added "chocolate flavour", but it's an easy drinker, and it does the job as a substantial, creamy, mellow beer to round off the night.

Little Creatures Single Batch, Big Dipper, Western Australia

568mL Crown seal

Hopped up, a double hopped IPA, but doesn't suffer for it. Maybe a bit too hoppy at the end - as a schooner it'd do nicely. Columbus, Cascade, Chinook, Stella, Centennial, Citra and Simcoe hops.

If you want to go for a hopped beer, this is a better option than a lot of the blow your head off IPAs.

Estrella Damm Inedit, Barcelona, Spain

750mL Crown seal

Wheat beer designed in conjunction with Ferran Adria (!) to be versatile to pair with a lot of dishes, and suffers for its attempt at versatility. It's a flat drinker - no real flavour to it, but gives the grassy wheat beer aftertaste. Decently priced and looks good in the bottle, but that's about it.

Mad Brewers Hoppy Hefe, Malt Shovel Brewery, Sydney

A hybrid - hopped up (US-style), wheat beer (German style). The extra hopping kills off the grass flavour that normally sours the wheat beers. Motueka and Citra hops.

Brooklyn local 1

750 cork, 9% ale. Palais imports, seacliff pk sa. Brooklyn brewery. Bottle fermented, long lasting, fine long lasting pearly head. Belgian style, nutty malt, well balanced with hops. Tastes less potent than the alc vol. Blackberry aftertaste. Wouldn't pick it as a us beer. Extremely enjoyable!

Kirkland pale ale

5.4% fruity and hoppy, slightly medicinal. Like a cascade pale with a higher alcohol content and more bite.

Kirkland amber ale

5.7% 354ml crown. Usa. Bitter, malt, moderate hops. Billed as English style, but still tastes of us microbrew. A little too bitter for my liking.

Kirkland Belgian style white

5.4% usa 354ml crown. Citrus nose, medium bitterness. Slightly medicinal flavour. Not horrible, though.

334ml 5% Japan food corp, lane cove. Soapy, but evenly balanced hops and malt. Nothing special.
